Harper Woods: Redeemer Presents 2nd Annual Music Department Concert

Harper Woods: Redeemer United Methodist Church will present Honor and Glory, Power and Praise, a concert of sacred music drawn from the Christian and Jewish traditions, on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 3:30 p.m.
Admission is free and seating is unreserved. A free-will offering will be accepted to support the music ministry at Redeemer UMC.
The Redeemer Concert Vocal Choir, comprised of the combined choirs of Redeemer UMC and Detroit: Mt. Hope UMC will be featured along with the Redeemer Concert Handbell Choir, and the Redeemer Men’s Chorus.
Special guests include the Voci Degli Amici Chamber Choir (an octet of professional Detroit-area singers), trumpeter Bernhard Kirchner and violinist Zhelinrentice Scott.
A great variety of musical styles will be showcased, including classical favorites
(such as a monumental choral arrangement of Pachelbel’s Canon in D), historic
spirituals (Some of These Mornin’s), traditional Jewish (Bashana Haba’ah), and
works of contemporary composers (including John Rutter’s A Clare Benediction
and Brian Wilson’s Love and Mercy.)
Redeemer UMC is conveniently located at 20571 Vernier Road in Harper Woods, one block west of I-94. Ample free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the church.
