Statistician's Corner
Thank You for the 97% of churches who have submitted their local church reports for 2012. For the rest... the nice pestering has just turned "nasty,"
For every church, may your many ministries be blessed with God's presence and guidance!
Welcome to the 2012 annual statistician's home page. Church information letters have been sent out after Thanksgiving, 2012. All information, apart from access codes, are available from this web site. To obtain your church access codes if they have been mislaid, please contact me, Rev Ron Iris per info above.
Statistical returns are probably not your favorite activity! They do, however, provide valuable information to assist in conference and church development and planning. Your help in providing us with the raw information to work from is greatly appreciated! Here are some of the highlights - new and important items for the 2012 reports:
- Deadline. The due date for the 2012 returns will be Tuesday January 29, 2013. We hope that this will allow you time to close your 2012 church accounts, and get your Conference Voucher from the Treasurer's Voucher site (http://www.umconline.org/detroit), before entering data – resulting in more accurate data. This also gives time for us to respond to your requests for help while not delaying final data entry.
- Electronic entry only. This year again, as far as possible, we will be entering data electronically at www.ezra.gcfa.org . We hope this will enable better accuracy, since you will be able to validate items as they are entered. However, we recognize that this may not be possible in all churches – please contact me if this poses difficulties for your church.
- Help videos. A series of short how-to videos covering the mechanics of using the data entry system, and some specifics about particular line items will be available in early January.
Senior Pastors, as I’m sure you are aware, the final submission of the annual reports is your responsibility but I encourage you to involve others in your congregation in the preparation of the information. Sharing the stories told by the statistics, and perhaps especially the comparisons with prior years, may yield some interesting insights. Please ensure that all involved have a copy of these documents to help them.
Finally, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, if you have any questions. My contact details are above.
May your many ministries be blessed with God's presence and guidance!
Rev. Ron Iris
